The new Find Freelancers directory is live today and will significantly impact the way you hire and get hired on site.
The directory delivers several benefits:
- A leaderboard that ranks Freelancers by Skill and Reputation;
- Enables Employers to evaluate every Freelancer by reviewing details of completed projects and reputation for a specific Skill;
- An easy-to-read layout makes it easy to compare and contrast Freelancers;
- Employers can make an offer on the spot by clicking Hire Me.
The leaderboard reinforces the message that building up your reputation is the most valuable long-term investment you can make. Our highest ranked Freelancers have the strongest reputations, but they didn’t start out that way. Our blog post from August contains tips on how you can increase your Reputation. Improve your Reputation and your ranking will follow!
With almost 3 million registered Freelancers on site competition to appear on page 1 is intense, for every Skill, so we introduced TWO optional upgrades for Freelancers to make their listing stand out from the pack.
Highlight uses a coloured border to make a Freelancer’s listing more noticeable to Employers. Highlight your listing, for 7 days, and draw every Employer’s attention, for just US$1!
A Sponsored listing is more sophisticated. It propels you into a Top 3 listing, on the very first page of the Directory, for a specific Skill. Only 10 Freelancers can sponsor their listing, per Skill, with 3 Freelancers displayed at a time (on a rotating basis).
Sponsored listings are auctioned to the highest bidder, starting from just US$1 for 7 days. When all 10 spots are taken, the price goes up to US$2, then US$5 and doubles after that.
If your Sponsored bid is beaten, before your 7 day listing expires, you get a partial refund for the time left on your listing. That way, you are not charged for something you don’t completely benefit from.
The Find Freelancers directory, like the Hire Me button in every Freelancer’s Profile, makes it extremely important to ensure your Profile is 100% complete and your Skills are up to date. The easiest change you can make is to add a professional photo to your Profile. It makes you stand out among the thousands of others that haven’t uploaded theirs! That, combined with your skill as a Freelancer, can help you get more project work. This in turn increases your Reputation and makes your profile appear higher in the listings!

This is not good feature because if new employer want to hire a developer then he go to the find freelancers and hire only High rated employers. this is very Bad for average freelancers or new freelancers. it must be remove for betterment of all freelancers on freelancer.com

Its good but whats about new freelancer thats have good knowledg of SEO
Some skills cannot be searched for, e.g. UNIX, FreeBSD or TCP/IP. A free textbox-search would be nice. Also a search by country is missing. Altogether only a few dozens thousands freelancers are being listed in all categories together, why are you hiding the remaining 3 million?
This is more effective which I expected.
This system is good. New employer want to hire for a job. But they are not skill so they need some work for few payment to increase their skill. So all freelancing sides should give them some opportunities.

I am agreed with Omer, this will benefit the top rated people only and is bad for new comers and average freelancers. The high rating only means how long the person is working at freelancer (ofcourse successfully) but there can be lots of good and more talented new people who might not have top ratings as compared to other old big fishes here. New people will be totally ruined with this feature.

Although this feature is not much beneficial for new and average freelancers, it’ll help a lot to the project creators to directly get the proper candidate very quickly. .
For example, if the employer wants a job to be done, he has to create new project, wait for freelancers to bid and choose one of them . .
But this feature will totally reduce this procedure . .

Freelancer needs to be more strict for the project owners. For example:
Project owners shouldn’t be allowed to award a project without creating the Milestone first.
It is a money maker machine. Anyone can try.
Please add a filter by location.

Its unique idea to have freelancers in the same stage. Similarly I will suggest for employers too. If they can be listed so that the freelancers can easily have an accessibility towards the high rated employers. I believe you guys will support me too.
Another suggestion: If Freelancer.com can open an technical forum; like if a freelancer has been stucked to a problem while working with a Freelancer.com’s employer then he / she can post his / her query and anyone can help each other. In this way, FREELANCER.COM can bring up more unity towards the work and make this very unique; and obviously a bench mark to others….
