New Freelancer.com Feedback and Rating System

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 in General Announcements | 4 Comments

Many of you will have noticed that we have recently just implemented our new Freelancer.com feedback and rating system. This new system is much more robust and comprehensive which will allow all of you to be able to get a better idea of who you are working with.

We have created multiple dimensions in the rating system which is different for freelancers and employers. This will create an even safer environment on Freelancer.com and allow more value and meaning to be put into user’s ratings. For freelancers, employers are able to rate you between a 1-5 scale on these dimensions:

Quality
Communication
Expertise
Professionalism
Hire again?

For employers, freelancers are able to rate you also on a scale between 1-5 on these dimensions:

Communication
Clarity in Specification
Honesty
Payment Promptness
Professionalism

This new feedback and rating system is currently live however will not be reflected in your actual profiles. We are currently just collecting information and will be pushing it live shortly. Look out for more announcements about our new feedback and rating system.

  • Nice initiatives taken by Freelancer.com, i appreciate this. By this way we will be able to reach our exact decisions.

This is a move in the right direction. The old feedback system is not capable of capturing the opinion of either party accurately. The new system, on the other hand, attempts to capture the picture in a more objective manner.

I am sure you are aware of the complications in switching to the new system. Whatever path you take, some freelancers and providers will be disappointed. To make the transition less painful, I suggest you allow a rather long period of co-existence of both systems. Start airing the results from the new system side-by-side the old system. Also, do not consider the new system final, let real data show how effective it is. Be prepared to revise and fine-tune the scoring system.

I have more to say on this, but I want to keep this comment short. However, if I find you, at freelancer.com, are interested to hear more, I’d be more than happy to elaborate.

    Thank you.

A change arrived at the right time.

  • Nice to hear that. We heard a news that project’s budget will also take effect on feedback. Thus, a good feedback of $3k will be 30 times of a good feedback on a project of $30. Is this being implemented? Thanks, Tonmay
