Tom Pearson who took out 1st place is a freelance illustrator and designer based in Manchester, UK. His design work is inspired his hometown, Manchester, as well as Japanese character design.
“I wanted to create an iconic crest design that would symbolize Freelancer.com and its members. I also wanted the crest to be equally appealing to non-members. The crest design was intended to show that the wearer of the shirt is an honorary/champion freelancer – either a freelancer in the general term or a freelancer as in member of freelancer.com. By sporting the emblem on their tshirt they are showing that they are proud of this statement. On the back of the tshirt is the viral aspect by inviting viewers to find out more about what the crest is symbolizing by visiting Freelancer.com. Almost inviting them to join the club” said Tom.
“Winning this competition is a milestone in my career. I graduated last year with a degree in Graphic Design and have been working as a freelance designer since then. Winning a competition held by a site like Freelancer is a huge achievment at the start of my career in design” Tom continued.
